breadboard
a reusable board for testing circuits without solder. the metal clips underneath form rails and rows that connect parts.
quick idea: the long edge rails are for power (+ and −). the small center rows are connected in groups of five on each side of the trench.

what connects
- power rails: long edge rails for + and −. some boards split them in the middle; add a short jumper if you need full-length power.
- rows of five: each side of the trench has rows where 5 holes are connected together.
- ic trench: a dip chip straddles the gap so each pin gets its own row.
quick tips
- color code wires: red = +, black/blue = −, others for signals.
- keep leads short; route wires neatly; label the rails.
- add a 0.1 µF ceramic near each ic between + and − rails.
- power off while wiring; breadboards are for modest currents only.
